Our Story
Starting in Seattle
Harborline Coffee started with a simple frustration: the coffee on grocery shelves tastes stale because it sits in bags for months before it reaches your kitchen. In 2018, we set up a small roastery in Seattle to do one thing differently — roast coffee in small batches and ship it to you within days, not months.
We wanted to know exactly where our beans came from and to build real relationships with the growers who grow them. That meant skipping the commodity market brokers and working directly with importers who've spent decades with the same farms. It's slower, it costs more, and it's the only way we know our coffee is worth the care we put into roasting it.
How we source
Ethiopia
Our flagship single-origin comes from the Yirgacheffe region, where coffee grows at high altitude and develops bright, complex fruit notes. We work with the same importer year after year to ensure continuity and fair prices for the farmers.
Colombia
Huila region beans give us balanced, chocolate-forward profiles. We pay above commodity rates because the growers there take real care with their crops, and that care shows in every cup.
Guatemala & Sumatra
We rotate seasonal lots from Guatemala's highlands and Sumatra's volcanic soils. Each brings its own character — earthy depth, subtle spice, full body — and each comes with a direct relationship and a story we can tell you.
Roasting in small batches
Every Friday morning, we roast coffee in small batches — never more than a few kilos at a time. This means we can dial in each roast precisely, responding to how that week's beans want to be roasted rather than forcing them through a one-size-fits-all profile.
By Monday, those beans are packaged and on their way to you. You're drinking coffee roasted days ago, not months. The difference is remarkable: brighter flavors, better crema, a cup that tastes alive in a way stale grocery coffee never can.
What this means for you
Fresher coffee
Roasted within days of shipping, not months old. You taste the difference immediately.
Fair prices for growers
We pay above commodity rates because we believe the people growing coffee should benefit from its quality. Direct relationships mean everyone wins.
Full traceability
Every bag tells you exactly where the beans came from — the region, the importer, often the specific farm. You know what you're drinking.
This is why our coffee costs more than the supermarket. And if you've tasted it, you understand why it's worth it.
